This May, Lupus Awareness Month, we launched our new project in honor of my Grandma Bernice, who is living with Lupus.
WHAT IS LUPUS?
Lupus is a chronic disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body, like your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, lungs, heart, and brain. Lupus is one of the most complex autoimmune diseases and currently has no known cure.
DID YOU KNOW?
- 1.5 million Americans are living with Lupus.
- 90% of people living with lupus are women.
- 3 times more Black women are living with Lupus than White women.
- 20% of people living with Lupus will have a parent or sibling who has or may develop Lupus.
